I am a neuroscientist living in San Francisco. I've done research in seven countries across three continents. My primary interest is understanding the brain. I believe that large-scale experimental infrastructure, combined with increasingly powerful in silico intelligence, will finally allow us to move from observing the brain to understanding and engineering it within my lifetime.
I am currently co-founder and CEO of Exin Therapeutics, an AI-native neuroscience company. I studied biochemistry back home in Madrid, then completed an MSc in Neuroscience and a DPhil in Pharmacology at the University of Oxford. I also spent some time at the Gatsby Unit modelling the brain with deep neural networks. Along the way, I've worked on Friedreich's ataxia, muscle injury, pancreatic cancer, and the claustrum. But these days, I mostly care about the brain.
